Our week in review

February.. A short month with A LOT going on!

We kicked off last week celebrating the Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year.
We had dinner at a local restaurant where we rang in the new year- the year of the monkey- with family and watched the lion dance! Lia caught the orange that the lion threw, that means luck and riches for the new year!

Rubbing Buddha's belly for luck

Eating noodles for a long life

Watching the show

And catching the orange

Meeting the lions
We celebrated Jim's birthday with a dinner and cake at home. And we forgot to take pictures of any of it! But I just love this picture of the two of them talking at dinner ...
We had a follow up ENT appointment due to another "cold" and possible sinus infection.
Followed by a CT scan on Friday.
The before ....

... And the after

We opted for a sedated CT scan. There was no way she could hold that still for 15 minuets and be strapped in. It was rough on her walking up from the anesthesia - for a while she was seeing double. It's so tough watching her go through this kind of stuff, I'm not sure it's ever going to get easier but we thank God we live where we do and have access to such great medical care.

We came home after the scan and had Wendy's fries and a frosty and Oma and Opa sent a special flower delivery!
We've been resting and laying low the rest of the weekend.

And that brings us to today

Happy Valentine's Day

  1. Poor Lia! I hope all the results from the CT scan come back good. I've never had that done before, but I think even I would have a hard time holding still for that long, so it seems impossible for any kid to do. What luck that Lia caught the orange! That must've been exciting for her :) Happy Valentine's Day and Happy New Year to you guys!

  2. ugh she looks so droopy in those pictures. I hope she is feeling better now. She caught the orange though! Noodles and lions and oranges! Happy New Year and Valentine's Day belated style.

  3. Love the Known by Heart shirt! So sorry to hear that Lia is still fighting illness. That poor girl has had way more than her fair share of sickness these past few years. Sounds like she's going to be luckier going forward, though! :)

We're planning a trip your way this summer (maybe June?) and would love to get together with you! I'll dig up your e-mail address and send you a message. Definitely want to see your zoo, so maybe we could do that together!
