Lia did fantastic with her trigger thumb surgery and is recovering well. We are relieved parents.

Our little peanut is AWESOME.

We started the day early.
Here we are arriving at 7:45am for a 10am surgery.

We followed the blue path to the green path to the 2nd floor surgery center aka "playroom"

We went back to pre-op by 8am.
And dressed for surgery. We were prepared for the long wait.
We went to our "bed" where we were surprised to find out Lia would go in for surgery by 9am!!!

Look who came with us to the hospital- Brobee -
"Blue Triceratops"
and "Stripes" the kitty (she's a new addition thanks to the hospital)
Lia's pretty creative with names huh?!
By 9:40 we were meeting with the surgeon and by 10am we were hanging out with Lia in recovery having Sprite and a red Popsicle!!

We were home by 11am and Lia proceeded to eat everything she could.
The first thing she asked for was cheese and crackers and soup and juice.
That was just round 1 of the eatathon that lasted all day!!

Lia doesn't have any type of cast, just a bandage and is using her hand and thumb beautifully.
She was a little tired and weepy the day after surgery but is doing better than we ever thought.
She is strong, determined and brave.
We are SO proud of you Lia!!

  1. I am so glad that's over. I knew she'd do great.

That shot of her in the gown just melts my heart. She is just so precious I want to scoop her up. What a beautiful child, inside and out.

So happy you guys can put this behind you and enjoy the holidays! Hope Lia is feeling better than ever.

  2. WOW! That is crazy how fast you guys were in and out! So important that you have documented all this for other families who may choose to adopt a child with similar hand anatomy. Happy the surgery went well and that she is doing great!

  3. Wow, what a need surgery center. So glad your little one is doing well!

  4. What a cute little trooper. Happy to hear it all went so well.
