The joys of childhood

This is how Lia enjoys her Sunday

Just relaxing
Watching a movie
Sitting in her comfy chair
Chewing some baby ice cubes
Under a BIG plush blanket

Aw - the joys of childhood

HOPE is here

This is one of the many Christmas gifts Lia got this year!

Introducing HOPE made with love for Lia by Baby Be Blessed

We have been waiting for her since July but we've had our eye on her for 3 years!
Yep 3 years!
This doll is special for SO many reasons

She is handmade and has a scripture patch on her tummy that can be customized.

We choose:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

~ Jeremiah 29:11

And we added some very special dates for our family.

We are so happy to have this for Lia
I could go on and on about why we wanted this for Lia but one reason is- after years of waiting for Lia we never gave up HOPE . When I saw this doll and read the Baby Be Blessed story, we just had to get one.

We think Lia likes her too.

Merry Christmas

Christmas day started out like this:

And the tree looked like this-
THANKS to Santa

Lia was still like this:

But soon our house looked like this

Now all is calm

All is bright

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!

Our 2013 Christmas cards and Lia's list

This year we did 3 different cards.
Here's one :
 We used these pictures

Lia loves the one with her "friend Santa"
We love them all.

Here's Lia's letter to Santa as told to mommy and daddy - it's short and sweet

Dear Santa :
I would like,

A baby doll (sure to be named Truman after our friends baby boy)

"The Minnie Mouse Game" (aka Minnie Mouse Birthday Bowtique)

An orange in my stocking ( thanks to the book The Sweet Smell of Christmas)

Merry Christmas

Oh sweet girl, I bet Santa will be happy to make your Christmas wishes come true!

Ernie the Elf ~ FAIL

I don't think we're too good at this Elf thing! He doesn't get into any mischief. The fact is, Ernie doesn't move that much at all.
Oh well maybe next year!!

Here's what he's been up to;

Hanging out in the doll house
Riding the camel and hanging with the wisemen
Just chillin in the tree

Yep, that's it!! We figure this year Lia is just getting used to having "her" around. Lia thinks he is a girl- maybe it's the beautiful lashes!

First world problem.....

I am so sick about what just happened to our blog. ALL of the pictures are GONE. Something crazy happened when I updated our Google + account and all of the pictures are deleted. I am sick about it. 600 pictures are deleted. Yes we have some here and some there but not all in one place and our blog is not in print! Did I mention I am sick about this?

I know this is such a first world problem. And it's not the end of the world.

I am going to continue to post- if I can get blogger to work. But I am going to restructure our blog.
Some old posts will go. I will add back the pictures I can and move forward. So I am off to edit 129 posts.
Here is a sneak peek at our Christmas card picture!
Now that makes me smile.

Take a deep breath-side to side- side to side - breathe in- breathe out.
That's what we tell Lia when she is getting all worked up.
Maybe it will work for me!!

As always, right on time

It's here..
It didn't miss a beat.
Right on time.
As always - the same time every year (for the past 4years)
You could set your watch to it!
Lia's Christmas cold/virus. This year it came with a double ear infection.
So why does it surprise us each year?
I mean - she takes after her mommy :) I had a Christmas cold and cough my whole childhood!

The one good thing?
She is usually lots better by Christmas!

Santa's House

As we pulled up the drive Lia exclaimed:
"It's Santa's house!!!"

As we walked into "Santa's House" she was thrilled to see him walking around. He came to visit us at our table!!

We had brunch and then went to visit the big man himself.

Santa gave out little goodie bags. Lia gave Santa a big hug and waved goodbye.

We got to the car and Lia was all smiles

A good time was had by all. Yay Santa!!!

Searching for The You We Adore ( a book review)

I must start out by saying this is not a typical post. I don't normally do reviews BUT...
this book has touched our family and is such a beautiful book that I had to share our thoughts!!
This is truly a book that is a "classic for every heart touched by adoption"
This book is not specific to any one country. This book will be loved by families that have adopted both domestically and internationally.
However we loved it because it does have a beautiful shinny red ribbon aka red thread that runs on each page. Lia loves the red thread and traces it with her finger as we read.
The pictures are beautiful and hold Lia's attention but the words are ....
This is a book that we enjoy reading as much as Lia loves us reading it to her.
The first day we got this book we read it several times and Lia even woke up in the middle of the night asking for the "red heart" book to help her get back to sleep.
So sweet
Here is a little from the book:
"We dreamt of your smile
your eyes and your nose.
We couldn't wait to hold you
and tickle your toes"
"We sent our love to Asia
whistling though the leaves,
to see if you were climbing
with the Panda's in the trees"

" Our love danced in the skies
with the northern lights,
looking for you snuggling
with the cubs sleeping tight"
To see more of the book go here.

There is even a beautiful website designed to go right along with the book.

This is a must have for all families that have been touched by adoption. You won't regret having this book in your collection. I promise. It is by far the best one we have.
Valarie Westfall so eloquently puts into words the journey of adoption and what we as parents and our families felt while searching for the one we adore.
The images created by Richard Cowdrey in this book capture you from cover to cover and are simply beautiful.

What are you waiting for .....
go get one!

Christmas cards..

...Take 10!!

This is round ten of our Christmas cards in the making.

Lia only wants to wear "the Kitty" pj's.
Ok let's see how it goes wearing said pj's

Ok now move closer to the tree

Ok now look at me- or maybe not

Ok now look at me ... And smile!! Yay

Ok now ditch the sunglasses, look at me and smile

Not ditching the sunglasses, barely looking at me, not smiling AND not caring that Ernie the Elf is right there watching every moment.
Better luck next weekend when we go to visit Santa!

Thanksgiving Eve

It 'twas the night before Thanksgiving
And all through the house

Lia was not stirring....
Because we were watching a new movie

A new Thanksgiving tradition has begun-
The Cat in the Hat knows a lot about Christmas.
It held Lia's interest twice today and that is saying a lot!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

A big ol' ......

Have I mentioned this before?
Lia loves to play a "game" she made up called
A Big Ol'
She gathers a big ol' pile of - clothes and has a blast!
She gathers her big ol' pile

She tosses her big ol' pile

She lays down in her pile ol' pile
The clothes go flying and she thinks it is SO FUNNY !!!
And starts the game all over again!
This is a "game" she has played since she was 1.
She thinks it is so much fun and it can keep her entertained for a long time.
She does this every time there is a load of laundry fresh from the dryer or
it's time to clean out the closet and drawers!
Oh to be young again.
